Position Title      :  Secretary General

Reports to           :  National Governing Board (Conselho Directivo Nacional) and the President

Supervises          :  President Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste                     

Position                : Two years contract with possibility extension  

Work Location   : Dili

 

Purpose of Role: To ensure CVTL manages its organization and staff well, according to the internal rules and regulation, and to ensure programme and administrative activities in CVTL are run efficiently and effectively.  

 

SELECTION CRITERIA – JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

Qualifications

  • Relevant University Degree
  • Post graduate studies is an advantage

 

Professional Expectations

  • Knowledge of the Red Cross Movement and Fundamental Principles (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of CVTL activities and objectives (Essential)
  • A high level of honesty and integrity (Essential)
  • Commitment to the concept of volunteering (Essential)

 

Experience

  • Several years of high-level management experience (Essential)
  • Substantial experience in one or more non-Government organizations (Essential)
  • Experience in the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (Preferred)

 

Skills

  • Extensive experience in leadership and management roles in the humanitarian sector (Essential)
  • Capacity to quickly establish good working relationships with Government, CVTL partners and donors, other NGOs, International Agencies, and civil society organizations (Essential)
  • Extensive experience in Leadership roles in the humanitarian sector (Essential)
  • Communication skills at a high level to represent CVTL publicly and to deal effectively with the Timor-Leste community (Essential)
  • National citizen (Preferred)
  • Financial management knowledge and skills (Essential)
  • Strong skills in Tetun, Portuguese and English (Essential)
